Members Only Award Show

Each March, COAL holds it’s Annual Members Only Award Show. An independent judge, selected by the show directors and approved by the Board of Directors, judges this show. Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded at a reception and award ceremony held on the Sunday following the show opening.

The Annual Members Only Award Show prospectus is generally posted on the Home page of this website 60 days before the show. The prospectus provides show rules, entry forms, prize money, dates, & times. Members must have their dues up-to-date to enter this show.

 

Open Juried Award Show

The Annual Open Juried Show, open to non-members as well as members, is COAL’s signature event each year. It is held in August and draws entries from all over Southern California. Two independent judges, selected by the show directors and approved by the Board of Directors, judge the show. Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded at a reception and award ceremony held on the Sunday following the show opening.

Children's Art Show

Each May, COAL sponsors an art exhibit of youth art at the gallery. The show is open to individual children (Pre-K-8th grade), home-schooled children, and classroom students. Ribbons and prizes are awarded at a reception for artists and their families.For further information, please contact the Co-Director of Youth Programs listed on the Contact Us page of this site. Show Within a Show

Four times during the year, COAL features a "show within a show" display of artwork done in a specific theme. Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded in these special theme shows. The remainder of the monthly show is also judged and ribbons only are awarded as usual. See the home page of this website or the monthly Brushmark for the “special show-within-a show themes.”
